Waterfall model and agile unified process

August 10, 2009
Comparison of waterfall model and agile model
As of 2004 Waterfall model is common in use. It is a step by step process from requirement through testing in a sequence manner. The main problem of waterfall model is there is no back tracking i.e. it is difficult to change the requirement. This model is not suitable when the requirements are not well understood. It is a linear sequential model.
Agile method produces a completely developed and tested feature for every week or months. It delivers a smallest piece of functionality to business value and continuously improving the functionality through out the project. It minimizes the risk in a short period of time. Agile method is developed as iteration.
