India and China Comparison

August 10, 2009

GDP Per Capita

China’s GDP Per capita is now 2.2 times greater than India’s GDP (in USD PPP terms). Untill the early 1990s, GDP per capita in china and India was in equal levels, but china adopted wide-ranging economic reform one decade earlier than India.

Today, many global business leaders believe that they must have a strategy for China and India. For many, China is seen as the place to produce or procure goods while India is the place to procure business and IT services. Yet in the future this discrete division of labor might not be so clear, or even relevant.

Historical share of global GDP

Today China is in third place in Manufacturing and india is in 12th place after 2025 China is in first place and India is in 6th place
