How Design Pattern Evolved?
Christopher Alexander, a civil engineer wrote about his experience in solving the design problem such that others could be benefited. He had explained the problem he faced while designing buildings and towns. It occurred to Alexander that certain design constructs lead to desired effects. About 15 years ago, Software professionals started to follow the Alexander’s principles and documented his ideas which could be used for the developers. This documentation helped others to have a profound thinking of design pattern and finally published the following book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software in 1995 by Eric Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, and John Vlissides.”. This book played an important role in evolving design pattern to software development. Basically 23 patterns are described in this book; later on many patterns have been documented and cataloged.
