These tools are used to audit the data at the source, Transform the data so that it is consistent throughout the warehouse, segment the data into atomic units, and ensure the data matches the business rules. The tools can be stand-alone packages, or can be integrated with data warehouse packages. Data flows from the source database into an intermediate staging area, and then into a data warehouse. Database Administration Tools:
A person who is responsibilities for the environmental aspects of the database is known as database administrator. He has so many responsibilities in the database environment as follows.

  5. Duties of DBA
1. Recoverability (crating and testing Backups)
Suppose any error occur in the database like data loss or hardware filer. The Database administrator can bring the data from data warehousing unit. Recoverability activities include making database backups and storing them in ways that minimize the risk that they will be damaged or lost, such as placing multiple copies on removable media and storing them outside the affected area of an anticipated disaster. Recoverability is the DBA¬タルs most important concern.
2. Security :
The DBA finds about the access restrictions to be defined and defines security checks accordingly. Security means that users¬タル ability to access and change data conforms to the policies of the business and the delegation decisions of its managers.

There are many ways to prevent open access from the Internet and each database system has its own set of unique features as well as each OS. Therefore, I am merely going to touch on a few methods.

Increasingly, businesses are coming to expect their data to be available at all times .The IT industry has responded to the availability challenge with hardware and network redundancy and increasing online administrative capabilities.
4. Performance:
Designing the database and database interaction so that it performs to be required: On the database side, there are four items of PRIMARY importance
1. Design your database properly – a normalized database design is usually a better starting point of designing. Occasionally you may have to demoralize something – but only do so as a result of testing showing the need – and AFTER optimizing the database in the normalized design.
2. Make the database better to work – Building SQL queries and stored procedures that deliver data as close to your “final product” as possible. This means that you should minimize the number of round trips – for instance, by minimizing the number of queries to obtain a set of data.
5. Duties of Database administrator:
1. Installation of new software :it is a regular job of the DBA to install new versions of DBMS software, application software, and other software related to DBMS administration.
2. Configuration of hardware and software with the system administrator :In many of the cases the system software can only be accessed by the system administrator. In this case, the DBA must work closely with the system administrator to perform software installations, and to configure hardware and software so that it functions optimally with the DBMS
3. Security administration :one of the main duties of the DBA is to monitor and administer DBMS security. This involves adding and removing users, administering quotas, auditing, and checking for security problems.
